TASKS

For your Final Major Project it is essential that you produce ongoing research in order to show your engagement with a specific area of media and the development of your creative project.

  • Identify a relevant a professional linked to your area of study. For example, a director who has made a similar genre of short film you are interested in. You must then send an e-mail reaching out and asking for production advice for your upcoming project. Evidence this e-mail and any responses you receive.

  • Create a questionnaire and collect responses. Only ask questions which will provide answers that will be useful to you in the development of your final outcome. Analyse the answers you receive and state how they could impact your project. You will receive a better response rate if you find an online forum to share your survey. For example, Facebook or Reddit.

  • Produce a video or audio interview discussing your idea with a knowledgeable other. This could be a classmate, tutor, friend, family member, or anyone else who may have a unique perspective on your area of study. You could also arrange an interview via email, phone call, or a recording of a ZOOM meeting.

  • A range of primary research activities might also include trips and visits to relevant locations. Document the process and discuss anything you have learnt and how it will help develop your final outcome. For example, a convention, seminar, trip to the cinema, exhibition.

You must review your research. Be specific in why you are researching your chosen media products and how they will help you develop your project.

For example:

·         What research have you conducted so far?

·         What have you learnt from this?

·         How has your idea developed as a result of this new information?

·         What further research do you intend on conducting?
